Susan Lava-Parmele MD, MS, MPH grew up in Southeast Kansas.  She attended Northwestern University in Chicago where she received undergraduate and master’s degrees in Neuroscience.  She attended Columbia University where she matriculated with a Master’s in Public Health degree.  She later went to the University of Kansas School of Medicine where she received her Medical Doctorate.  She underwent four-year residency in anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis.  She received further fellowship training in pediatric anesthesiology at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.  She is board certified in both anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology.

She has been practicing anesthesiology in Minnesota since 2007.  She has practiced at many area hospitals including the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Masonic Children’s hospital.  She is certified in BLS, ACLS and PALS.  She has also completed the Certificate in Business Administration program sponsored by the American Society of Anesthesiology.
